Special Events

Throughout the year, NCAP offers temporary events that are open to the community. These opportunities include NCAP Summer Camps for kids and youth, our Mobile Arts Studio where you can find our pop-up art table at different city-wide events, and our One-Time-Classes that range from  jewelry making to art journaling, from paper flower arranging to hand-lettering. Check back in frequently to see what we're planning next!

adult calligraphy classes

10-noon | 8/21, 8/23, 8/28, 8/30

$25 for supplies, $15/class

NCAP is partnering with the wonderful Glenn Avenue Calligraphy to offer four daytime adult calligraphy classes. All supplies will be included. We hope you'll join us!

ncap kids camp

This year's 5-11yr old Art and Music Camp's theme is "Created to Created." Join us for five mornings of learning songs and making art with a variety of different instruments and mediums! Finish out the week with us at our Camp Art Show and Performance! Camp fees cover all supplies, a bag to collect art, and an NCAP T-Shirt. Registration is now open and will close mid-June.

fairy garden + gnome home making

Join us for our special, one-time summer class! Kids will learn from teacher Linda Perkins about how to make miniature gardens and homes. All supplies will be provided. Space is limited.

food pantry logo competition

cash prize $200

NCAP is hosting a Logo Design Competition for the Noel UMC Food Pantry during the month of August! It is open for submissions from designers of all ages. The winner will be selected in September and awarded a cash prize. The winning logo will be painted as a mural in the food pantry the following month.

Highland jazz and blues festival

Join us (and all of our neighbors) for this wonderful, annual music festival in Columbia Park! NCAP will be there with a drum circle, so just follow the sound of djembes. 

mission saturday: food pantry mural painting

This will be a family-friendly and creative service opportunity for those interested in coming out for a couple of hours to paint the newly designed food pantry logo onto one of the pantry walls. We'd love to have your help!

pumpkins and posies watercolor class

Weather-permitting, we'll be set up in the garden this Saturday morning for an outdoor watercolor class and garden demonstration. Come learn how to paint pumpkins and posies with us in our beautiful Highland Community Garden space!

We're gathering for a night of community poetry reading! We'll be gathering sign-ups from those interested in reading their own poetry and/or poetry written by others who have influenced and inspired them.

christmas recital and art show

Twice a year, our students bring together the fine art, music, and pottery they've been working on throughout the semester to share with their loved ones and the greater community. We'd love for you to come and get a glimpse of all that our teachers and students are creating. Stay for the reception afterward!

We'll be on the map for the December Highland Open Studio Tour! Drop by to learn more about what we do here at NCAP, see a pottery demonstration, play some drums, work on a craft.
